What drives the cost

What a funeral costs in Delhi NCR

The freezer box has a fixed price, shown below. The rest of a funeral turns on your situation, so here is every part that moves it, so you know what you are being quoted for before you ring.

  • Your figure on the call
  • Nothing added later
One call, one figure.
No packages, no rounding, no "starting from"

The number that fits your case.

The short answer

What a funeral costs in Delhi NCR is set by four things, in this order: whether the cremation is wood, CNG or electric; whether the ghat's electric unit is working that day; how many hours the freezer box is needed; and the distance and number of journeys. Some of it is collected by the crematorium rather than by us, which is why the honest figure is given on the call.

What moves the number

What actually
decides the cost.

In the order it matters. Knowing these is what stops a quote being something you have to take on trust.

  1. Whether the ghat's electric unit is working

An electric unit that is out of service turns an electric cremation into a wood one on the spot, at a different cost and a different wait. It changes ground to ground and month to month, which is why we check it before sending anyone.

  2. How many hours the freezer box is needed

Billed by the day at almost every supplier, so a family waiting overnight for relatives to arrive pays differently from one proceeding the same afternoon. Tell us when people can reach you and we can tell you which side of a day you fall on.

  3. Distance, and how many journeys

Hospital to home, home to ground, and sometimes ground to a second location for the ashes. Inside the city it is usually one figure; beyond city limits it moves to a per-kilometre basis, and a night collection is not the same as a midday one.

  4. Pandit and samagri

It depends on the rites your family follows and how long the ceremony runs, not on a tariff. Tell us the tradition and we will tell you what it involves.

Where the money goes

Who collects
what.

The useful half of the answer, and the half nobody publishes. Some of what a family pays on the day is not ours to quote and not ours to take - knowing which is which is how you check a bill.

Ask what your case comes to

Paid to whom, and for what

The MCD counter at the ground
The cremation charge itself, paid at the office. Ask for the receipt - an amount with no receipt is the one to question.
The wood vendor at the ground
Wood, billed by weight. Ask for the rate per kilogram before it is loaded and watch the weighing.
Swargdwar
What we actually arrange: the vehicle, the freezer box, the pandit, the samagri and the paperwork. One figure, given on the call, with nothing added later.

Why there is no number on this page

Most families are quoted one figure and never see what is inside it. Publishing our own would repeat that: a single number that is wrong for almost everyone, because the parts above move independently and they move a lot.

What we can do instead is make sure nothing on the bill is a surprise. Ask us what each part comes to for your case, and ask the ground for a receipt for anything paid at the counter.

What is never in the figure we quote

Anything bought directly by the family - clothing, flowers, sweets for the ceremony, transport for relatives. Those vary too widely to estimate and we do not mark them up.

A little clarity

Common questions

If something here is still unclear, call us - someone answers at any hour.

Why is there no single price for a funeral?
Because any figure we could put on this page would be wrong for most families reading it. The cost turns on the cremation method, the hours of freezer, the distance and the rites - and a published number is either misleading or a floor we would exceed on the call, which is worse. The freezer box is the exception, because it is priced by time alone: ₹4,500 for 24 hours, on its own cost page. For everything else, tell us the situation and you get the actual figure, once, with nothing added later.
What is the largest part of a funeral bill?
For a wood cremation, the wood - by a wide margin, and it is the item most often sold at a flat rate instead of by weight. For CNG or electric, the ground charge is fixed and modest, and the variable parts become the transport and the number of days the freezer box is needed.
Do I have to pay anything at the crematorium itself?
Yes. The cremation charge is paid at the ground's own counter, usually in cash, and you should be given a receipt. Wood, if you are using it, is bought there too. Neither is collected by us - everything we arrange is quoted and settled separately.
